It's not like I haven't made a habit of jumping in with both feet when attempting a new venture. So no one I know should be surprised to discover that I'm signing up for Cannonball Read III, and committing to read and review 52 books during 2011. That'll be one book a week, and this week is almost over.

Being intentionally observant -- taking a moment to acknowledge an observation -- not only helps cement an experience in my memory, it also connects me to each moment in a way I hadn't expected. Intention plays a huge part in the process, but the larger part of the equation seems to be simple appreciation.
Today's gem was enjoying walking in the cold, drinking in the pale cerulean sky and the sun glittering on the snow. Marveling over the strength of the sunshine, able to melt icicles although the temperature was hovering around zero degrees.
